The Workplace Learning Academy collaborative is a joint effort between WLA, ROP, Merced College and the Merced Union High School District. The Academy curriculum is based on an integrated mode. Each of the core subject areas focus on the same "vocational" related topic of instruction every week. Students learn about key concepts in Math, English, Science, History and Career Planning in their coursework. Students also learn skills relating to the Construction / Building Trades and Landscaping / Horticulture Industries.Academy Student's Have the Opportunity To:
- Progress through a series of performance-based tiers
- Learn a life skill - vocation with real world possibilities
- Receive paid internships/work experience

WLA is operated by the Career and Alternative Education Department of Merced County Office of Education. Its goal is to offer vocation / career-technical education to students throughout Merced County.
